Certificate in Spirituality
A certificate program focusing on personal spiritual development
This series is an exploration of personal spirituality relating to faith, personal growth and relationships, and spiritual writers, through readings, reflection and writing.
Each 10 week course is offered by distance education in a CD format. Courses can be taken independently for interest or as part of the Certificate in Spirituality. The CD format allows participants to print the material at their leisure for ease of use and portability while also providing them with video clips, audio clips, various web-site links and other resources. There are no exams in these courses. Participants submit a short assignment at end of term. The online forum gives participants the opportunity for weekly asynchronous discussion with their instructor and classmates where they can share learning, experience, additional resources and insights.
“I am leaving this course a changed person knowing better who I am – able to be more spiritually centered. How amazing it is, that at this moment in my life, I am learning to be more aware of my spirituality, getting to know myself better, learning to see the sacred presence through all living things and experiences that life brings to me.” (certificate participant, 2008)
A Certificate in Spirituality is awarded by St. Francis Xavier University upon successful completion of four courses.
