Welcome to the Faculty of Education at St. Francis Xavier University. Since 1946, over 6,000 educators have graduated from our programs. We believe that becoming an educator is a life-long endeavour, one that is best undertaken in a supportive learning community. Our faculty and staff work closely to build that community with our pre-service and in-service teachers and with cooperating teachers and our many other partners in Nova Scotia, across Canada and around the world. Together, we form a commited, collegial, professional, supportive community that sustains our members.

Please see our Programs/Inquiries section if you would like to become a teacher or are interested in applying for our graduate programs. For the Bachelor of Education Program, we encourage all qualified applicants but, this year, we would like to increase our intake of students who are interested in teaching in the secondary stream and teaching the middle school grades.  Many Junior High school teachers now teach in three subject areas and find themselves responsible for courses for which they have little background. To address this, we are encouraging those who have the potential to be certified in three subject areas to apply to our program. Please contact us for more information about becoming a middle school teacher if you think you might qualify for this designation.
