David Young, Ph.D.

David Young is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at St. Francis Xavier University. A former Teacher and Special Education Coordinator, Dr. Young is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick, Acadia University, and the University of Western Ontario.
In addition to teaching at StFX, Dr. Young has also been a member of the Faculty of Education at UWO. Among the courses he has taught are Psychological Foundations of Education, Educating Exceptional Students, Social Foundations of Education, Educational Policy, Educational Research, and School Administration.
Dr. Young’s research is focused on the broad topic of educational administration and policy. More particularly, his current writing deals with issues surrounding law and education. This area of inquiry is an extension of his doctoral research, which dealt with tort law reform. Dr. Young was recognized for this study by being awarded the Canadian Association for the Practical Study of Law in Education (CAPSLE) Fellowship. In addition to his interest in education law, Dr. Young is also engaged in research dealing with special education policy.
