Faculty Position: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program

St. Francis Xavier University School of Nursing invites applications for limited term faculty and clinical associate positions. The School of Nursing offers a four-year integrated BScN program, and several other options building upon the student's academic background and experience. There are over 1000 students in all of the StFX School of Nursing programs and options. The School has international affiliations and numerous educational, professional, practice and research partnerships, as well as joint appointments. The School has been honored for innovation and teaching effectiveness. Research and educational programs in the School of Nursing are supported by strong relationships with a broad range of clinical and community agencies in both rural and urban settings. Faculty research is guided by the concepts of health promotion, self-care and caring. The Joint StFX/CBU/BScN Program in Sydney (a component of the StFX School of Nursing) offers a 4 year BScN degree program. The Joint Program admits 60 freshmen nursing students each year The preferred faculty candidate will have a Masters degree in Nursing, a PhD, teaching experience in an undergraduate nursing program, and a strong and current nursing practice focus. The person selected will be required to regularly participate in clinical practice with groups of students, demonstrate evidence of a developing research and publication record, and active

involvement in professional affairs. Candidates must be eligible for registration with the CRNNS. The substantive areas of interest to the School include: nursing of children, mental health nursing, and adult nursing. A strong and current nursing practice focus, active involvement in professional affairs, interest in nursing research and the ability to work effectively and imaginatively in a collegial environment are desirable characteristics. A major portion of the positions require working with students in acute, chronic and/or community health care settings. The preferred clinical associate candidate will have a master's degree in nursing and at least five years full-time clinical experience. Nurses with a strong practice background, with a BScN degree, will be considered. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
