Payroll

StFX University Payroll is a part of the Human Resources Department, located on the 4th floor of MacKinnon Hall (Business Office).

For new employees (excluding students) to be entered into the payroll system, Payroll requires a signed letter of offer, a New Hire Form and a Payroll Request Form to be completed by the relevant department head.

All New Hire Forms or Payroll Request Forms indicating changes to current employee pay information such as salary, title, hours worked per week etc must be submitted to Payroll. Without exception, deadline for Payroll submissions is 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday the week before the pay.

Students will require the Student Worker and Research Assistant Letter of Appointment (below), which includes the New Hire Information and Payroll Request Forms.

Please note that all student workers, casual workers and research assistants must use the Student/Casual Worker and Research Assistant Letter of Appointment with its supporting forms if there is no official employment contract written.

When do I get paid?

All employees of StFX are paid on a bi-weekly basis. The deadline for submitting any payroll request is the Tuesday at 4:30pm the week before pay day.

How do I receive my pay?

Your net pay will be deposited directly to your bank account. A payroll deposit slip detailing your gross pay and deductions will be sent to you via inter-campus mail.

Why didn’t I get paid?

Human Resources must have authorization from the hiring department before payroll is processed for any employee group (Faculty, Administrative Staff and Students). Personal Information and Direct Deposit Authorization if applicable in the form of a voided cheque must be received by the payroll office no later than the dates on the Payroll Services Schedule.

How do I change my payroll information?

Changes to Payroll information must be made in writing. As outlined on the Payroll Services Schedule. Any changes to personal income tax deduction require a completed Federal TD1 and Provincial TD1NS forms. Forms can be picked up at the payroll office or from the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency website
