Sue Adams

Sue has worked in the libraries of St. Francis Xavier University since 1976. She works part of the year at the Angus L Macdonald Library, where she is responsible for developing library service to the University's distance education students. For the greater part of the year, Sue is the Librarian at the Marie Michael Library, Coady International Institute, where she has worked since 1991.

Sue's professional interests are in the application of participatory methods to assessing and meeting information needs in the countries of the global South. She has collaborated on projects with a WAND, the Women and Development Unit of the University of the West Indies. One project resulted in the creation of an international resource directory on Gender and Sustainable Rural Development.

As part of the "Education for Action" plan of the Coady International Institute, Sue is involved in assisting with the development of libraries and resource centres in Coady partner organizations throughout the world by offering training and consultation services.

In May of 2001, the Coady International Institute offered a unique three week certificate program on Managing NGO Resource Centres. The program brought together participants from Africa, Asia and the Caribbean, and was facilitated by Sue Adams and Elaine MacLean.
