Gender & Sustainable Rural Development: A Resource Directory, 1997. $15.00
Irving, Catherine (ed.)

This directory contains over 80 entries highlighting a wide range of print and audiovisual materials that focus on issues of gender and sustainability in rural development. The goal of the directory is to provide a vehicle for development workers, activists, policy-oriented researchers and scholars to share their knowledge of critical resources in this field. Our intent is to highlight items that have been produced in the South—to challenge the myth that good print and audiovisual materials are only available from the so-called "developed countries."

The project was initiated in 1995 by Sue Adams, Librarian at the Coady International Institute, and Nan Peacocke, Publications Editor at WAND. This is a collaborative project, with entries submitted by people active in NGOs and learning institutions around the world.

The directory is organized into seven main subject areas: Agriculture, Community Development, Economic Development, Environment & Health, Fisheries & Forestry, History & Theory and Legal Aspects. Addresses for publishers and organizations mentioned in the directory are included to help readers locate or obtain resources.
