Global Awareness Week
November 10-15, 2003

Get in touch with a world of cultures, ideas and issues during this week of events ranging from presentations and discussions with community leaders from Africa, Asia and Latin America, to an exhibit of international dance, songs and artifacts, to WUSC’s Feast and Fiesta, an interactive and eye-opening evening of food and drink.

Dr. Harry Maier, professor and author, presents his second public lecture while completing research at St. Francis Xavier University, “St. Paul the Subversive Roman Citizen: Reading Paul Against the Backdrop of Globalization and Military Domination,” an examination of the Christology of the Apostle Paul with reference to the political ideology of the Roman Empire. Professor Maier, Father Edo Gatto Chair of Christian Studies, Professor of New Testament Studies at the Vancouver School of Theology, and Faculty Fellow of Green College at the University of British Columbia, is the author of The Social Setting of the Ministry as Reflected in the Writings of Hermas, Clement (reprinted in 2002) and Ignatius and Apocalypse Recalled: The Book of Revelation After Christendom (2002), which won the World Guild Award of the Canadian Christian Writers Association in 2003.
