On November 9, over 150 local business leaders and students from the Gerald Schwartz School of Business and Information Systems gathered for the StFX Business Banquet to hear insights on the future of business from StFX alumnus Allan Ross, CEO of Calgary-based Ross Smith Energy Group.
In a speech entitled ‘Ten Rules for entrepreneurship in a computer-enabled world’, Mr. Ross, Ernst & Young’s Distinguished Entrepreneur for 2004, highlighted the profound impact new technology is having on business, tearing down borders and eliminating many barriers to entry. Mr. Ross also stressed the continued importance of creativity and interpersonal relationships in creating successful and sustainable businesses.
The dinner was organized by the StFX Business Society and ACE (Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship) with the support of XEDC, the Antigonish Chamber of Commerce, and the Gerald Schwartz School of Business and Information Systems.
