List of Web sites relevant for Post-Communist Studies
Originally compiled by Barrie B. F. Hebb

The list below is a very basic list of the main sites I have come across for information on Post Communist Countries. The topics covered are broad and range from online newspapers to grant and job postings to cultural sites. There are also some specific sites for data on the Former Soviet Republics and others. The list is by no means exhaustive.

The idea of this list is to give the readers or viewers an idea of what is available on line now. In recent years there has been a strong growth in placing information on the web and people in many of the republics have gained access to email either via a home computer or in the new booming internet café sector.  Many of the pages cited below also contain links to other useful cites. Browsing is unfortunately still necessary.

Scholarships, grants, employment:

There are extensive resources on the web concerning funding, grants, scholarships, applications, jobs, voluntary ones etc. The list below includes some of the major sites. The reason for focusing on these sites is that most of them contain links to additional sites which will lead you through most of the resources available today on the web. The Institute in Indiana for example, contains a job page with a large number of links to organizations and employers who wish to hire people to work in the FSU. I have also included some sites pertaining specifically to Canadians. Citizenship unfortunately matters since many grants are specifically for US citizens or citizens of the FSU.
