Outlines
Taking the time to make an outline can save you valuable minutes, indeed
hours, when you actually start to write your paper. There are many ways
to make up an outline. The outline comes from all the questioning you
did in the previous step. You can use the wheel or the sun method to sort
the information and concepts you have into main ideas and related information.
The main ideas will become the main points you will discuss in detail
in the different sections of your paper.
Here are two different approaches to outlining. The first sample uses
the main ideas from your brainstorming as your main points.
Topic:
I ? Main point
a) sub-points
b) examples
c) supporting
II ? Main point

This second example uses categories. This is a great method for noting
similarities and differences between countries or research studies.
