THINGS TO DO WHILE YOU WAIT,

AND WAIT, AND WAIT............

Unfortunately, you may experience 1-2 hour waits in the Health Centre sometimes. Because we are primarily a "drop-in" clinic we have no control over how many people drop-in, we do not know how long each visit will take, and we do our best to ensure people are seen in a timely fashion.

Tips for Drop Ins:

*It is best to come early in the drop in session if you need to be seen on that day. We begin a new drop in list at 9:00 am & 1:00 pm everyday.

*We do not take drop in appointments over the phone and we do not schedule drop ins for the next drop in session.

*If you are unable to see the Doctor on the day you drop by, ask if the nurse can assist you. Sometimes we can problem solve an issue together and find a short term solution to your problem

*If you really have to see the doctor that day, please let us know that. We are here to help!

*We generally can fit you in within 48 hours. It takes up to a week(sometimes more)  to see  many family physicians in Antigonish....really, 48 hours is pretty good!!!!

*Don't leave prescription refills until the last minute. We will do our best to assist you, but try to plan ahead! That way you have a little time if you can't get in on that day.

*Be gentle with us and each other.  We can't control the length of time each person spends with the doctor. Everyone who comes will get the time they need.

We hate seeing you wait a long time too! Here are some good activities to bring along, so if you're waiting, you can put that time to better use:

*write letters or cards to friends and family who don't use email....the Post Office is right downstairs.

*work on your personal bills, budget etc...

*bring a book or required readings....it will free up time that evening for social activities

*organize a calendar, your notes, your photos, your laptop files into folders. Think of all those little things you never have a minute to do!

*Do a crossword puzzle, Soduko, word find, whatever...

*Give yourself a manicure

*Daydream

*Plan your weekly menus and make a shopping list

*Listen to your iPod or MP3

*Read

*Go eat or go for a walk. Tell us when you're going, and check in when you get back. As long as we know you are returning, you can wait for your appointment anywhere!

Thanks for your patience! If you have ideas for reducing wait times or for wait time activities, let us know......it helps us to know what you're thinking!
