Access to StFX computing resources is granted via a "webFX"account. Each webFX user is provided with:
- Microsoft Exchange account for webmail, calendar, contacts, tasks (40MB)
- Personal File Storage H: Drive (250MB)
- Personal Web Space W: Drive (50MB)
New students receive webFX account information in their registration package. Any student who has not received a webFX account can request one at the TSG Contact Centre by providing proof of registration or a valid student ID card.
In addition, each student is provided with an account for the Banner student information system and the web reporting system known as MesAMIS. Students who did not receive a PIN number to access MesAmis and Banner Self Service may request a PIN number from the Registrar’s Office.Every residence room is equipped with a telephone. Each
student living in residence receives a personal voicemail box. Calling
card plans are available for students to place long distance calls from
residence rooms. Charges for long distance calls will be applied to
each student’s account.
All inquiries regarding billing or to request support for any of the
telephone services can be done through the TSG Contact Centre.
Students are encouraged to bring their laptops on campus or setup their personal computer system in residence. At this time the TSG does not offer support for student computer systems, however contact information for local computer vendors can be found on the TSG website.
The webFX Computer Labs have MS Office Professional Suite as well as Microsoft Visio, Project, Publisher and Frontpage (Now Sharepoint Designer) installed for student use. Numerous other academic software applications have been pre-installed to support academic course work. For a current list please visit the TSG Website:
The webFX network is a 1GB/s Local
Area
Network with 100MB/s desktop connections. The campus network is
connected to the Internet at 45MB/s and has a 1GB/s connection to
CA*Net4. The network is protected by security and spam firewalls and
all computer systems are equipped with virus and spyware protection
software.
The new webFX Wireless Xone offers
authenticated WiFi coverage in all buildings enabling anytime -
anywhere access to the Internet at high speed.
Every residence room has a network connection and Virtual Private Network (VPN) access is available for off campus users.
Every webFX Computer Lab is equipped
with at least one HP LaserJet printer. These printers print in black
and white only. Want colour? There are 8 color laser printers
available. Please see the Lab Locations & Schedules guide on
the TSG Website.
Large-scale printing services are available through the Digital Print
Shop located in the Campus Store, Bloomfield Centre
Classroom instructional technology is available for use by students when classes are not scheduled. Most campus classrooms are equipped with the following instructional technology:
- PC with a DVD Drive/Player
- Digital Projector
- Visual “Overhead” Presenter
- VCR.

StFX offers a premier computing experience. There are 11 webFX
Computer Labs on campus for student use. The webFX
Computer Labs are pre-installed with the required software applications
for all course work as well as printing (black and white, color), and
scanning resources.
New for the 2007 AcademicYear, the webFX Computer
Labs have been updated with new Apple iMac desktop systems installed
with the webFX iXone configuration of
Windows XP, MacOS X and Open Source Linux all on one system!

Media Services provides support for classroom instructional
technology and special event media production. Student Union affiliated
groups are able to utilize Media Services for special events &
activities.
All inquiries or requests for support must be done thtough teh TSG
Contact Centre.
Available on the TSG website are Guides and Tutorials in
PowerPoint and Adobe PDF formats to support the use of the various
technologies available on the StFX campus.
Upgrades and Equipment Sales:
The TSG Contact Centre maintains a small inventory of cables, hubs,
monitors and computer components for supported campus technology. These
