Early applications will be considered after May 1. Final applications are due no later than June 1, 2010.

Manuscripts

Applicants are asked to email only a digital copy of the manuscript to gbheron@stfx.ca. Applicants should submit short manuscripts which will be critiqued during group and individual sessions. Faculty will comment only on submitted manuscripts, rather than new work, during the workshop. Manuscript length is limited to 8-10 pages of fiction or memoir (double spaced, twelve-point font0. Poetry manuscripts are limited to 6-8 pages (single spaced, twelve-point font). Please discuss playwriting submissions with the coordinator before sending them.

Fees, Accommodations & Meals

The fee for the workshop is $550, which includes tuition, catered luncheons, a dinner on Saturday, a closing banquet on Sunday, as well as coffee breaks during the sessions. It also includes a $35 non-refundable deposit. Meals and accommodations are available on campus. Accommodations will be on the ground floor of a renovated campus residence consisting of single bedrooms with microwaves and fridges), several nearby single-stall bathrooms with showers, as well as a conveniently located kitchen and lounge.

Attention:  Bursaries in the amount of $250 are available for young writers interested in attending the Youth Writing Workshop.
