Alternative formatted textbooks (e.g., electronic or Braille versions of print material) are available to students who are blind, have low vision, or have a learning or mobility disability. The Tramble Centre can help you obtain books in alternative formats, primarily PDF.
If you use text-to-speech software, like Read & Write Gold, to read course materials, you must access your print textbooks in an electronic format.
Alternative format textbooks are requested through the Tramble Centre’s online portal ClockWork. Please click HERE for detailed instructions on requesting alternative format textbooks using ClockWork.
Tips for Making Alternative Format Textbook Requests:
- There are a couple of ways to get textbook information for your courses.
- Login to MesAmis and click on the MyData tab.
- Your course outline will have detailed information about the textbook you will use.
- Speak with your instructor.
- You must upload a receipt for all alternative format textbook requests. If you don’t upload a receipt, it will delay the processing of your request.
- Depending on the time of year, alternative format textbook requests can take at least three weeks to process. Please plan accordingly.
- Other information you will need to make alternative format textbook requests - book title, authors name, and ISBN.
- If you purchased an eTextbook, check if this online textbook has text-to-speech capabilities before requesting an alternative format textbook.
- If you are taking a full-year course, only make alternative format requests for books you need for a particular term. Ask your instructor if you don’t know what books you will use in the Fall term.
