Applications for the on-campus program are now being accepted for the elementary program and for all secondary specializations for the 2022/2023 academic year.  Please contact us if you have inquiries regarding the on-campus program.

We are currently offering off-campus Bachelor of Education programs in conjunction with the South Shore Regional Centre for Education and the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education.  We are also currently completing a Bachelor of Education degree in cooperation with the Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education.  These programs are a one-time offering and would only be repeated if we receive a request from the sponsoring regional body.  Please contact us if you have inquiries regarding the off-campus programs.

The teaching of the Gaelic language has been revitalized over the past few years through a combined effort of the Office of Gaelic Affairs, various community groups, and the Faculty of Education. The St FX Faculty of Education has supported the development and credentialing of Gaelic teachers since 2003 and has prepared several teachers for work within provincial schools.  The demand for teachers of Gaelic language and culture continues to grow across Nova Scotia.  Applicants pursuing a Gaelic focus in their studies may also have the opportunity to complete a teaching practicum in Scotland as their final placement.  The language focus requires oral fluency in Gaelic and at least 18 credits in Gaelic language-related courses in the first degree.
