  • The use of FTIR for applied analyses of silica, surfactants, and biofilms
  • Studies of the growth and architecture of biofilms
  • Nature of the exopolymers in bacterial (mainly Pseudomonas) biofilms.
  • Fluorescent labelling. Capillary Electrophoresis. Studies involving the analysis of creatine and creatinine in blood and urine after supplementation: dose – uptake relationships, the effect of supplementation on erythrocyte creatine levels.

Current research with Smith-Palmer as Principal Investigator is funded by NSERC(CRD), and Encana. This research is carried out with the Centre for Biofouling Research at StFX
