In 2018, we are proud to welcome the 2018 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games. We offer an inclusive sporting venue package featuring an artificial turf with an eight-lane 400m rubberized track where events can be held at night under the lights. The Oland Stadium was designed with field lines for football, rugby, soccer and lacrosse. In addition, StFX offers two NHL size hockey arenas, a newly renovated basketball court / seating and a 6-lane/25m pool.
The Special Olympics Canada Summer Games is a national sporting event for competitive athletes with intellectual disabilities. Each athlete must qualify at the local and provincial level before coming to the National Games. The 2018 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games is also a qualifying event for athletes to represent Canada at the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games.
There are 9 sports featured at the Games: athletics, basketball, bocce, golf, rhythmic gymnastics, powerlifting, soccer, softball and swimming.
