Background
Dr. Holmes is an anthropologist of science and technology and medical anthropologist.  She has done a range of research on the social implications of biotechnology and the post-genomics sciences, including genetic testing for breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility, and genetically modified plants and has done research in Canada, Colombia, and Australia.  Most recently, she is completing a CIHR funded project on knowledge translation and standardization within proteomics science. She is also involved in a collaborative study on local agricultural production in Antigonish County with Dr. Clare Fawcett and Dr. Susan Vincent in the Dept. of Anthropology at StFX. Her publications are listed on Google Scholar and Research Gate.  

She is a Co-Editor of Beyond Imported Magic : Essays on Science, Technology, and Society in Latin America (Winner of the 2016 Amsterdamska Award for significant creative collaboration in an edited book in the field of science and technology studies) https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/beyond-imported-magic
