Proxy Server Use
The proxy server is used to identify off-campus faculty and students as authorized users in order to access our subscriptions to the electronic resources. The proxy server administrator is able to view how many people are currently using the server, their ip address, and the amount of data that each current user has transferred (in megabytes). This information is viewed solely to administer the service. The proxy server administrator is not able to see what you are researching, or what electronic resources are being used.
All audit trails and usage limit information is erased after 7 days.
Electronic Resources
The electronic resources, to which we subscribe (ie. electronic journal and data providers), keep their own usage statistics. None of the resources require personally identifying information, although several do offer opt-in services. As the electronic resources are external websites, and not under the control of the Angus L. Macdonald libary, we encourage you to review the privacy policy of each resource prior to submitting your personal information.
Reference Computers
The reference computers are purged of all cached information, browsing history, and personally identifiable information on a regular basis (every time it is rebooted).
