It takes just 5 weeks to get the education of a lifetime.

Looking for a worthwhile way to spend the spring or summer? Consider the Explore Program. It's a superb opportunity for you to learn either English or French as a second language, and discover another part of Canada.

Being able to speak both of Canada's official languages, English and French, can be a tremendous asset throughout your life. Indeed you could say the Summer Language Bursary Program is the learning experience of a lifetime.

How does the program work?

Explore is a $2000 bursary for a five-week spring or summer French program to improve students’ French proficiency at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. The course locations are across Canada, and most expenses are covered. Some courses may offer the possibility of transfer credits. The bursaries are available to students and are determined by random selection. Visit www.myexplore.ca for more information. Note: the deadline date for applications is 28 February.

Who funds and administers the program?

The program is funded by the Official Languages in Education Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage and administered by the department of education, or the department responsible for postsecondary education, in each of the provinces and territories, in conjunction with the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada.

  2. Students in-course must obtain written permission from the dean prior to enrolling in an immersion course if credit is sought.
  3. Immersion courses may count as electives only
