Every day before coming to campus (or leaving your residence room) please ensure you are Symptom Free. Symptoms can vary from person to person and in different age groups. Symptoms may take up to 14 days to appear after exposure to COVID-19.

Employees must wash and/or sanitize their hands frequently. Hand sanitizer is available at main entrances and high traffic common spaces in buildings. Employees using shared surfaces and equipment should sanitize their hands prior to use (photocopier/ door handle etc.) and after completing work in a common area. Employees are reminded not to touch their faces and continue to have proper respiratory etiquette (e.g. coughing into their arm, wearing a mask, etc.).
Masks are mandatory at all times in campus buildings, including public spaces, common spaces, classrooms, labs and study spaces. The only exceptions to indoor masking requirements are when students are in their own residence rooms, when staff and faculty are within their personal office spaces and when persons are consuming food or drink in designated eating areas. In line with Public Health directives, masks are required in indoor private workplaces where there are interactions with the public, there are areas with poor ventilation or physical distancing cannot be achieved. Masks are not required while outdoors, unless physical distancing cannot be maintained. (updated January 14, 2022)
Maintain a safe distance from people not within your consistent social circle. Be mindful when using shared spaces such as lunchrooms and breakrooms. Stagger lunches, do not gather in indoor spaces and maintain a safe distance. Go outside for breaks and lunches when the weather allows.
Employees are expected to continue to use electronic forms of communication (MS Teams, phones etc.) as the primary method of interacting. Planned meetings of colleagues where electronic communication is not possible will follow the Public Health limit on gatherings. Participants will only meet in a room where physical distancing can be maintained, and participants will be required to wear masks. Employees should try to limit themselves to occupying their office or lab. Employees should avoid going to other buildings on campus to avoid unnecessary face to face interactions. Reasonable exceptions are supervisors whose teams work in other buildings or faculty and teaching staff who deliver courses in multiple buildings.
We have all been impacted by COVID-19 and want University operations to return to their vibrant, productive ways. To get back to an excited, populated campus we need to look out for each other. We all have personal accountability to follow these rules. All employees are encouraged to Report any Health and Safety concerns here. Completed reports will generate an email notification to the Office of Risk Management who will work with relevant departments to address the concern. Employees should report incidents of non-compliance to their supervisor.
